Nominate Your HR Heroes: Canadian HR Awards Are Back

The past few months have been as disruptive as they have been transformational – with HR leaders at the helm of organizational change, steering the ship through pandemic waters. And while it’s certainly had its challenges, employers across Canada have reaped the benefits of pivoting to remote and hybrid strategies, as well as embracing new ideas. Bearing all that in mind – isn’t it apt we celebrate our HR heroes in style?

It’s that time of the year again – the time to reflect, recognize and reward the very best and brightest our HR sector has to offer in HRD’s Canadian HR Awards. Hosted on September 15, 2022, at the Liberty Grand, Toronto, this year’s awards will mark our first in-person celebration of the year. Beginning at 6pm, the night is a Black-Tie event, complete with cocktail reception, dinner banquet, and even a post-party celebration.

Winners will also be profiled in HRD’s subsequent commemorative guide, set to debut soon after the date. And with 24 awards, spanning both individual and organizational categories, there’s plenty of scope to win.

Speaking to HRD last year, Sarah Beech, area executive president, central region at Gallagher, and sponsor of The Gallagher Award for HR Team of the Year, revealed they importance of these awards – and explained an organization is needs strong people in order to thrive.

“An organization is nothing without its people,” she told HRD. “A dream HR leader knows this and has mastered how to walk the tightrope, balancing the needs of both the organization and its workforce. They have the ear and respect of the C-suite, have built followership, and gained the trust of the greater team. They naturally see the big picture, strategizing on what’s to come and what needs to be done, while simultaneously getting in the trenches alongside the team to help with daily issues or concerns.”
