US mobile technology firm CloudMosa Inc has announced that it does not plan to recruit new staff in Taiwan this year.
It made the announcement on Facebook on Saturday.
The company in the post mentioned plans to “leave Taiwan,” and said that it would hold a news conference in the middle of this month to explain why it made such a decision after operating in the country for more than a decade.
The company would discuss its experience in Taiwan and offer suggestions for entrepreneurs who want to invest in the nation, it added.
CloudMosa did not provide any details about its plans or clarify what it meant by “leave Taiwan.”
It could not be reached for comment as of press time last night.
Founded in 2009 by former Google engineer Shen Shioupyn (沈修平), who was part of the development team that created Gmail, CloudMosa is the provider of Puffin, a Web and mobile browser that processes content using cloud server technology.
The browser provides superb Adobe Flash support on iOS and Android platforms, the company says.
Puffin has been downloaded more than 150 million times by users worldwide, the firm’s Web site says.
CloudMosa has offices in Taipei and Silicon Valley.
